Repertoar Hujan hit Tokyo in The Physical Theatre Festival; international festival held in Japan that aims in finding out possibility of theatre in the century as a matter of body. In 2005, as the sixth time, four countries—Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea and Japan-took part in the festival.
Besides Tokyo performance, the Rain Repertoire was also brought on stage in Yogyakarta and Jakarta.
Rain Repertoire was first developed in the year 2001 from two phrases of an unfinished poem written by Gunawan Maryanto; a man crosses in the rain and a woman waters her flowerpot every afternoon. From those partial phrases, the team of Rain Repertoire set events and, if necessary, a story. The rain and the memories generated by rain became the theme structured a background for the performance text. A small and personal theme we probably hardly touched. The 45 minutes performance uses body as its main expression. The body was forced to tell—through its movements and stillness—happening things within itself without any help of any single word, only minimal of props and the sounds emphasizing the body as the performance language. Actors use daily behavior, extra daily behavior and acrobatics (virtuoso) explored from Javanese folk dance (jatilan), Indramayu mask dance, Bangau Putih martial art basic training, and the principal of movements from Butoh training.
