2001
- Repertoar Hujan (Rain Repertoire)
created and directed by Gunawan Maryanto. Teater Garasi have brought the tally of the performance to 14 times in 13 places around Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Jakarta and Bandung on March to April 2001.
Rain Repertoire was first developed in the year 2001 from two phrases of an unfinished poem written by Gunawan Maryanto; a man crosses in the rain and a woman waters her flowerpot every afternoon. From those partial phrases, the team of Rain Repertoire set events and, if necessary, a story. The rain and the memories generated by rain became the theme structured a background for the performance text. A small and personal theme we probably hardly touched. The 45 minutes performance uses body as its main expression. The body was forced to tell-through its movements and stillness-happening things within itself without any help of any single word, only minimal of props and the sounds emphasizing the body as the performance language. Actors use daily behavior, extra daily behavior and acrobatics (virtuoso) explored from Javanese folk dance (jatilan), Indramayu mask dance, Bangau Putih martial art basic training, and the principal of movements from Butoh training.Media review on Rain Repertoire:
Teater Garasi's 'Rain' is not dry for idea Repertoar Hujan (Rain Repertoire) is both very personal and universal. It does not pretend to deal with the big issue this is a deliberate strategy. But, in dealing with small things - being caught in the rain and watering flowers in the afternoon - the work remains open to multiple interpretations. (Lauren Bain, Australian theater researcher. The Jakarta Post, April 16, 2001)
- Percakapan di Ruang Kosong (Dialogue in Empty Space)
Jogjakarta-Jakarta, September 2001. The performance is a wrap up of two different theater scripts: Komedi from Samuel Beckett's La Comedie, directed by Retno Ratih Damayanti, and Tentang Seorang Lelaki yang demikian Mencintai Hujan (lit: On a man who love the rain so much) written and directed by Gunawan Maryanto. In the persective of form, the former is contradictive to the latter. Komedi rely very much on words as its means of dialectics, while Tentang Seorang lelaki yang Demikian Mencintai Hujan is a physical theater performance with minimum use of words. The thing uniting the two is space. The performance in Jogjakarta was held inside a run-down factory warehouse, recalling memories and neglection.

A collective exploration, directed by Yudi Ahmad Tajudin, Jogakarta, July 1997. The repertoire did not derive from an established stage script but merely from a theme: Violence. From the theme the process persisted. Actors worked on their physical abilities. The writing team worked on the poetry, and the music team worked on sound composition. Thus, an improse-explorative score was made entitled Carousel. It was performed at the XII Yogyakarta Art Festival and in a Campaign against Violence to Women-organized by Indonesia Coalition for Women. - Kapai-kapai
